Potter

Potter a person who forms and makes something useful and good from clay.

God is identified as the Potter Isa 64:8
– In the garden Gen 2:7; Job 10:8-12; 33:6. God has made us Psa 100:3;
– Potter has authority and power to make what he will of the clay Rom 9:20-22.
– From the womb, God has plans for us and has made us Jer 1:5; Isa 44:24; Psa 139:13.
– God’s plans for us are for good not evil Jer 29:11; Eph 1:11-12: Ecc 3:14; Pro 16:4.
– Our plans need to be God’s will, or the wrath of God will fall on us. Jer 18:12.
– Potter makes some vessels for honor, other for dishonor. 2 Tim 2:20-21 (cleanliness is the key between the two, “cleans himself”); Mat 7:18-19. Eph 2:10 “for good works”
– Potter remakes the spoiled clay Jer 18:1-23; 2 Cor 5:17; John 9:6. God remakes us spiritually; Lamentations 4:2; via Christ Zech 11:13; John 15:5; Psa 40:2.
– God’s wrath because of a flawed creation Job 10:3; Isa. 63:1-19; Jer 18:7; 19:11.
Man is identified as the Clay Isa 64:8
– Clay has no right to rebuff the Potter Isa 29:15-16; 45:9; Rom 9:19-24.
– God allows us to be burdened so that we find rest in God. Mat 11:28.
– We are in clay jars, to show the power and glory belongs to God not us. 2 Cor 4:7
